This patient was interested in Liposculpture for several years to contour his mid-section.

After losing the desired amount of weight, the patient decided to have liposuction for improvement of body contour. He was happy with the weight he has lost, however he was unhappy the isolated fatty tissue around his abdomen and have tried multiple diets and exercise programs. Certain problem areas remain.

For large isolated fatty areas, tumescent liposuction technique was used.  This technique uses a micro-cannula, with a very small, one quarter of an inch in length incision and is placed in inconspicuous skin folds.

Male Liposculpture of the Mid-Section

This 34-year old patient from Oceanside, California (North County San Diego) did not like the appearance of his mid-section, he met with Dr. Pousti to discuss liposculpture. The patient is 3-months post-op liposuction of his upper body.

For large areas, Dr. Pousti used the tumescent liposuction technique. This technique uses a micro-cannula, which allows a more targeted, and controlled fatty tissue removal. This allows the surgeon to contour the area more effectively.

Abdominal Liposculpture

Gynecomastia – Male Breast Reduction

This 30-year old patient from San Diego, California was unhappy with the appearance of his chest.  He had gynecomastia (a condition in which males develop enlargement of the breasts). He was referred to Dr. Pousti by his girlfriend. After meeting with Dr. Pousti, the patient was confident that he had found the best plastic surgeon for his needs. Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40% to 60% of men. It may affect only one breast or both. Dr. Pousti is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon that has experience in performing liposuction for men. Patients are required to wear a compression vest to help minimize swelling for atleast 4 weeks, depending on the severity and complexity of each case.   Markings were carefully made prior to surgery. The lines represent the areas where the tissue will be removed to improve the contour of the chest. The patient also wanted to reduce the size of his areolas. An incision around the areola was made and the surrounding excess skin were removed. Liposuction was used to remove excess glandular tissue  around and near the aerola. Here is the adipose tissue and excess skin removed from each chest. The patient was placed in the upright position to confrim size and symmetry.  The “puckering” in the incision areas will smooth out with time to show a smooth chest wall once the internal sutures dissolve. Final results could take up to 6-8 months. Liposuction: Liposculpture

This 49-year-old male wanted liposuction of the abdomen and flanks. The patient suffered from exercise and diet resistant fat in the abdominal region and flanks, even though he lived a very active lifestyle. The “love handle” areas really bothered him and so he looked into liposuction to improve his shape and waist.

The patient set up a consultation with Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Pousti in San Diego to discuss his options and make sure he as a good candidate for the procedure. During his initial consultation, Dr. Pousti found him to be an excellent candidate for liposuction considering he had very good skin elasticity in the proposed areas. He felt very comfortable with the Dr. and liked that he was able to review before and after pictures of patients who had had the same procedure. The risks and complications of the procedure, as well as the expected outcome and benefits were reviewed with the patient. He left the office feeling very well-informed and decided to proceed with the surgery.

At his pre-operative visit, before pictures were taken. The patient’s medical history is obtained and all of the necessary paperwork is completed including consent forms. Pre-operative and post-operative instructions were discussed with the patient and all of his questions were answered at this time. Post-operative medications including pain medications, antibiotics, anti-nausea meds were all given to the patient to be filled prior to his surgery date.

Dr. Pousti instructed patients to limit strenuous physical activities and to wear a compression garment that covers the areas on which liposuction is performed for at least 4 weeks to help minimize swelling. After surgery it is also very important for patients to massage any malleable areas to avoid any irregularities of the liposuction areas.

As you can see, he had a dramatic improvement, especially in the flank areas. In these pictures the patient is approximately 3 months post op. His final results may take up to a year to see. The contour continues to improve as well as the elasticity of the skin.

Dr. Pousti keeps a close eye on his patients and follow-up with them several times throughout the year to make sure they are healing correctly.
